In 1968, the company started using the name “Subway” for the first time. The original Subway logo was, however, conceptualized three years earlier in 1965. It consisted of black, white and yellow colors, and remained in official usage till 2002.
The current version of the Subway logo was introduced in 2002, comprising of a cleaner, simpler and more contemporary design as compared to the original logo, with a notable change in typeface and addition of the new “eat fresh” slogan. The first letter “S” and the last letter “Y” feature arrows which symbolize the entrance and exit of a subway.
